Charlie
is known as the boxers comedian due to his boxing impressions and
his vast knowledge of boxing history. He worked for Sky TV live at
ringside before the Mike Tyson Versus Julias Francis fight at the
Manchester Evening News arena January 2000.
He
did impressions of different boxers that included Iron Mike Tyson
himself who was later seen laughing about it on TV. Charlie has just
finished the Mike Tyson's first tour of the UK he hosted all mike's
five dinners in england.
Charlie has been on tour five times with the greatest Middleweight
Champion ever, Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
The
tours featured former undisputed World Welterweight champion John
H Stracey and former World light Heavyweight Champion John Conteh.
Marvin went on the ITV show 'Odd Balls' and told the nation how funny
Charlie was during one of his British tours.
Also
he has worked with former World Heavyweight Champions Tim Witherspoon,
Ken Norton, and big Frank Bruno, MBE
plus Sir Henry Cooper and Ken Buchanan, the
legendary Scottish Lightweight.
Charlie has been on Carlton TV 'The Emma Awards'. The show featured
Prince Naseem Hammed and Chris Eubank. They were in the audience waiting
to present an award when Charlie did his impressions of both boxers
and got a standing ovation.
One
of Charlie's greatest honours was to be asked by Sky TV to perform
at Frank Maloney's testimonial tribute to former Featherweight Champion,
Paul Ingle at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough.
All the boxing legends came to support Paul after he had a injury
in the ring, the night was a huge success.
Charlie
works many times with Ernie Shavers, the Heavyweight boxer who fought
Muhammad Ali.
Ernie holds the World Record for Heavyweight knockouts 78 in 98 fights,
they perform together on the after dinner circuit and as they are
both Christians, they go into prisons and churches as a team.
He
also works with the Sky TV team Barry McGugian, Glen McCrory, Jim
Watt, Nicky Piper, and Spencer Oliver at local and national dinners.
He
often works withNigel Benn the most exciting fighter of the past,
Nigel lives in Spain but when he tours England he asks for Charlie.
Boxing
promoters book Charlie before their shows as he performs from the
ring. He works regularly for Frank Maloney, Keith Walker, Ron Gray,
Pat Brogan, Glyn Rhodes, plus many others.
He
sometimes works with John H Stracey and Barry McGugian at private
functions where they both sing!
Charlie
says "They are both brilliant singers but if they are bad who
is going to tell them". Charlie's finest moment came when he
had a private audience with Muhammad Ali and the greatest's family,
Muhammad loved his impression of Mike Tyson and asked him to do it
over and over again.
